Manage your subscription, view pricing plans, and understand how credit rollover works

When signing up, you will be automatically assigned to the free tier. To view your subscription, click on your profile icon in the top right corner and select “Subscription”. You can read more about the different plans here. At the bottom of the page, you will find a comparison table to understand the differences between the various plans.

Payment options

ElevenLabs offers two ways to pay for usage:

  • Subscription plans: Monthly or annual subscriptions with an included monthly credit quota
  • Pay As You Go: Prepay for usage in advance, with or without a paid subscription

Learn more about Pay As You Go.

We offer five public plans: Free, Starter, Creator, Pro, Scale, and Business. In addition, we also offer an Enterprise option that’s specifically tailored to the unique needs and usage of large organizations.

You can see details of all our plans on the subscription page. This includes information about the total monthly credit quota, the number of custom voice slots available, and the quality of audio produced.

Custom voice slots are used when you create voices with Voice Design or Voice Cloning. Voices saved from the Voice Library do not use custom voice slots.

Cloning is only available on the Starter tier and above. The free plan offers three custom voice slots that you can use to create voices with our Voice Design tool.

You can upgrade your subscription at any time, and any unused quota from your previous plan will roll over to the new one. As long as you don’t cancel or downgrade, unused credits at the end of the month will carry over to the next month, up to a maximum of two months’ worth of credits. For more information, please visit our Help Center articles:

From the subscription page, you can also downgrade your subscription at any point in time if you would like. When downgrading, it won’t take effect until the current cycle ends, ensuring that you won’t lose any of the monthly quota before your month is up.

When generating content on our paid plans, you get commercial rights to use that content. If you are on the free plan, you can use the content non-commercially with attribution. Read more about the license in our Terms of Service and in our Help Center here.

FAQ

Credits were previously referred to as “characters.” We updated this terminology to streamline pricing and make it easier to understand, though the value remains unchanged.

Credits can be used across our platform. The number of credits used depends on your plan, whether you’re generating via the website or API, the product you’re using, and the model. For full details, see our Pricing page.

Credit Allocation and Rollover

For self-serve monthly and annual plans, and Enterprise monthly plans: you will receive a set amount of credits each month, which reset monthly. Up to two months’ worth of unused credits can roll over to the next month.

For enterprise annual plans, you will receive a yearly credit allocation upfront. These credits reset each year, with up to two months’ worth of unused credits rolling over to the next year.

If you downgrade or cancel your subscription, this does not take effect until the end of your current billing cycle, and unused credits are not rolled over.

Pay As You Go

Pay As You Go (PAYG) allows you to prepay for credits without committing to a monthly subscription, or buy additional credits if you run out of your subscription credits. For full details, see our Pay As You Go documentation.

If you change subscription plans, your PAYG credit balance may be adjusted because credits are stored as a dollar value and converted at your current plan’s rate. See What happens to my PAYG credits if I change subscription plans? for details.

New subscriptions have the option of purchasing Pay As You Go credits. These credits last for 12 months, and will be used if you run out of credits from your monthly quota.

Pay As You Go is not available on Enterprise and legacy subscriptions. If you run out of credits on a legacy Starter plan, you’ll need to wait until your current billing cycle renews for your credits to reset. Alternatively, you can upgrade to a higher plan at any time. You can also set your subscription to cancel - when the cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle, you’ll be able to resubscribe to our new Starter subscription with the option of Pay As You Go.

On Enterprise and legacy Creator, Pro, Scale, and Business plans, you can enable usage based billing. This allows you to pay for additional credits once you’ve used all of your included monthly credits. Usage based billing is typically charged at the end of each billing cycle. However, if your usage based charges exceed twice your monthly subscription fee, we will charge you immediately for the outstanding balance.

If you decide to upgrade or downgrade your subscription while having an outstanding usage based billing balance, both the balance and the new subscription plan price will be charged at that time.

For more information, see What is usage based billing?

Please refer to our pricing page for a detailed overview of all available subscription plans.

When you cancel or downgrade your subscription, this won’t take effect until the end of your current billing cycle. When this happens, you will lose any unused credits on your account.

Here’s how to cancel or downgrade your subscription:

2

Click your profile icon in the top right corner of the website to open your account menu.

3

Select Subscription.

4

Click Manage subscription. This will appear on the left of the window.

1

To cancel your subscription, click Cancel subscription and proceed through through the cancellation process. Once you click Cancel Subscription, your cancelation will be scheduled for the end of your current billing cycle.

2

To downgrade your subscription, click Downgrade and select the plan you want to downgrade to. Confirm the downgrade, and it will be scheduled for the end of your current billing cycle.

3

You will see confirmation of the scheduled downgrade or cancellation. At any time before the end of your billing cycle, you can click Resume subscription to remain on your current subscription plan.

Your browser can sometimes block pop-ups from appearing or a button from working. If this happens, try using a different browser. The browsers that generally work best are Chrome, Edge, and Firefox.

If you still have issues, please email team@elevenlabs.io from the email you currently use for your ElevenLabs account.

It’s not possible to pause your paid subscription, but when you cancel your paid subscription, your account will be transferred to the free plan at the end of your current billing cycle.

While you’re on the free plan, you will not have access to certain features such as voice cloning, but nothing will be deleted from your account unless you choose to remove it yourself.

You can resubscribe at any time any time from your Subscription page.  Once you resubscribe, you will regain access to the features available to your new plan, including any content saved on your account.

Yes, we offer annual plans for all of our subscription tiers. At the moment, we do not offer quarterly plans. ElevenReader is currently free to use for all subscribers.

On our pricing page and subscription page, you can toggle between monthly and annual plans to see the different pricing and options available.

Annual plans are billed on an annual cycle and will renew automatically unless canceled.

On the self-serve plans, your credits will reset each month. If, by the end of the month, you have unused credits, you can carry over up to two months’ worth of unspent credits into your next.

On the enterprise plans, you can decide if you want to receive your credits to reset each month or if you want them in a lump sum and then have them reset annually. If, by the end of the month or year, you have unused credits, you can carry over up to two months’ worth of unspent credits into your next cycle.

If you upgrade to an annual plan while you have an active monthly subscription, this will start a new annual billing cycle. Any unused credits from your previous character quota will be added to the first month’s quota of your new annual plan.

You can read more about credit rollover here.

You can upgrade from one annual subscription to another annual subscription, but you can’t upgrade from an annual subscription to a monthly subscription.

When upgrading your annual subscription, here’s what happens:

  • If you have enabled usage based billing (legacy subscriptions only), and incurred a charge, this will be billed when you upgrade.
  • You will receive a prorated discount on your new plan. This discount is based on the unused months of your current plan, minus the two free months included in the annual subscription price.
  • You will be charged the full cost of your new annual plan, which also includes two free months, minus the prorated discount from your previous plan.
  • Your new annual subscription will begin immediately, resetting your billing cycle. It will automatically renew a year later unless canceled.  If you do cancel, the cancelation will take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.

At the moment we accept:

  • Credit Card
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • UPI (India only)

While you can try using a prepaid card, it is not something we directly support. We have encountered issues with the issuing banks and Stripe blocking such payments. Therefore, please be aware that attempting to use a prepaid card is done at your own risk.

If this doesn’t work, you will have to try using another card or explore an alternative payment method altogether.

You can update your billing information from your Subscription page.

1Go to your Subscription page.
2

Click Billing.

3

At the bottom of the pop-up, click Manage billing information.

4

Scroll down to Billing Information and click Update information.

5Make the necessary changes to your billing information.
6

If you want to add or edit your Tax ID, you can do this in the Tax ID section.

The updated details will be applied automatically to all future invoices.

Usage based billing is a legacy feature, and is not available on new self-serve subscriptions. Enterprise contracts remain on overage-based billing and are not affected by this change.

For self-serve subscriptions, Pay As You Go is our replacement for usage based billing. For more information, see our Pay As You Go documentation.

On Enterprise and legacy Creator, Pro, Scale and Business plans, you have the option to activate usage based billing. This will enable you to pay for additional credits used after exceeding your monthly quota. For full details on how to enable this feature, please see How do I enable usage based billing for my account?

To allow for more control over charges, usage based billing has a maximum number of credits that can be used. You can set this threshold yourself when you enable usage based billing. For a guide on how to do this, please see How do I change the usage based billing threshold for my account?

The additional credits are either billed at the end of your billing cycle, or when the outstanding balance exceeds twice your usual subscription payment.

If you decide to upgrade or downgrade your subscription, you will be immediately charged for any outstanding usage based balance, as well as the price of your new chosen subscription plan.

Usage based billing offers a fixed price for each additional 1,000 credits used over your limit. The cost of these credits depends on your plan, and will be displayed when you enable usage based billing for your account, prior to confirmation.

Payment failures may happen for a variety of reasons:

1

The payment was not verified on the card holders side. Upon checking out from the payment page users should be asked to verify their payment with their bank

2The user’s bank may decline the payment
3The user had insufficient funds in their account

The extra verification step is a requirement from your bank or payment processor to verify your identity or to confirm your payment details.

Typically, you will be prompted to provide additional information or complete an additional authentication step upon checking out from the payment page. Follow the instructions provided by your bank or payment processor carefully.

This situation can occur when a user cancels their subscription too late. When you initiate a cancelation, it doesn’t take effect immediately. Instead, it cancels the subscription at the end of the current billing cycle. This approach is designed to prevent users from losing any unused subscription time simply because they cancelled early.

However, if you cancel the subscription after the current cycle ends, even if the new invoice hasn’t been paid yet, the new cycle has already begun. In this case, the system will not cancel the subscription until the end of the new cycle.

You are eligible for a refund if a request is filed within 14 days of payment and no credit quota was used in the period for which you are seeking the refund.

You will have to reach out to support directly so they can look into it and issue a new coupon for you.
